This scan also looks at superficial veins in the arms or legs if there are any blockage due to blood clots. However, the occurrence of blood clots is more common in the legs. This scan includes the assessment of femoral veins, sapheno-femoral junction, popliteal veins, sapheno-popliteal junction, and calf veins in your legs. Why would I need an ultrasound of my Deep veins of legs or arms?

-If you have risk factors of DVT such as: bed rest or sitting for a long period of time (eg: during long-distance journey), family or medical history of blood clots, having long-term catheter in the blood vessels, pregnancy or childbirth, recent surgery or fracture in your lower limbs, pelvis, or hips.
-If you have been experiencing symptoms in one leg (rarely in both legs) such as: throbbing pain in thigh and calf while walking, swelling (oedema), warm, red/darkened skin around the painful area and swollen veins that become rigid or painful when touched.
