Elite Community Ultrasound (ECU) is delighted to offer this Rapid reassurance scan for all pregnant women who are 16 years or above and in pregnancy between 10 weeks and full term. However, this scan is not a substitute of 12 weeks combined and 20 weeks anomaly scans which are offered in the NHS.

While the scan may not detect all conditions, a normal result cannot guarantee the absence of abnormalities.

***This scan does not provide measurements of the baby and is not suitable for those seeking to determine the gestational age or the estimate due date of their unborn child.

Elite Community Ultrasound (ECU) is delighted to offer this Rapid reassurance scan for all pregnant women who are 16 years or above and in pregnancy between 10 weeks and full term. However, this scan is not a substitute of 12 weeks combined and 20 weeks anomaly scans which are offered in the NHS.

While the scan may not detect all conditions, a normal result cannot guarantee the absence of abnormalities.

This scan includes:

  • A verbal report and related two b/w printed images of unborn baby.

 Our Rapid reassurance scan is a safe, painless, and radiation-free baseline medical imaging to:

  • Reassure you by showing the baby’s heartbeat and movements.

  Reasons for having this scan:

  • Reassurance (Peace of mind).
  • Meeting with your baby between both NHS offered scans (12weeks and 20weeks), as well as before 12 weeks and after 20 weeks.

Q. What preparation do I need for Rapid reassurance scan?

A. You are required to have full bladder to get an adequate result. Therefore, you are required to drink one pint of water at least 30-45 minutes before your scan appointment.

Q. What happens if I forgot to drink water or don’t have required full bladder at the time of scanning?

A. Your scan will still be attempted, however may interfere with the results of the test.

Q. What kind of clothing do I need to wear for this scan?

A. There is no specific requirement of clothing for undergoing this scan. However, wearing loose and two-piece cloths are advisable.

Q. What happens during the Rapid reassurance scan.

A. You will be asked to lie down on the scan couch(bed) comfortably. Our well qualified experienced specialist ultrasound Practitioner/Sonographer will put water-based gel on your lower tummy. Thereafter, they scan by placing the transducer (camera) over the gel on your lower belly.

Q. What happens If your ultrasound practitioner/sonographer detects anything out of the ordinary during this routine check?

A. In this situation ultrasound practitioner/sonographer shall advise you accordingly.

Q. What is the duration of this scan?

A. The duration of the scan is usually 10 minutes.
