Description
Elite Community Ultrasound (ECU) is delighted to offer this comprehensive Vein mapping scan for those who are 16 years or above and want to have an urgent scan for excluding the blood clots in the large deep veins.
What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI)? CVI is a condition that affects your veins in your legs. It happens when your one-way valve in your veins gets damaged or weak, which stops your blood from flowing properly back to your heart.
A Vein mapping Doppler scan is a non-invasive medical diagnostic imaging to check the competency of the valve, size of the veins and blood flow in the large veins in the legs. It includes a comprehensive assessment of the blood circulation in the veins and can look at any reflux or blockage areas. Additionally, the scan can measure the diameter of the veins and evaluate the functioning of the valves in the veins. This information can assist the physician or your healthcare professional in determining the extent of the condition and formulating a treatment plan.
Getting venous reflux diagnosed and treated early can help protect you from more serious complications and give you a better quality of life. Early treatment can help ease your symptoms, lower your chances of getting a blood clot, and help keep your blood vessels healthy.
The most common causes of chronic venous insufficiency are:
Family or medical history of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).
Sitting or standing for a long period of time (eg: during long-distance journey)
Age factors.
Obesity.
Pregnancy.
Smoking.
