Elite Community Ultrasound (ECU) is delighted to offer this comprehensive scan for women who are 16 years or above and do not want to wait for weeks to find an answer.

Breast ultrasound is a non-invasive painless and radiation-free medical imaging to check the internal structures of the breast. It can help you or your healthcare professional to exclude the cause if you have any breast issues. For example, it can help in identifying the nature of breast lumps such as cystic (fluid filled lump) or solid (contains solid component)and other abnormalities that may have been identified during a physical examination and other medical imaging such as mammogram. However, this scan is not an alternative of annual mammogram screening.

A breast lump either can be a benign or malignant (cancerous). It also can be cystic (fluid filled lump) or solid (contains solid component).

Breast cancer occurs when abnormal cells within the breast start growing and dividing out of control, eventually developing into a tumour. Breast cancer starts in the breast’s milk ducts. Breast cancer is the UK’s most common cancer. Breast cancer is mainly found in women, but it can also affect men.
